RELIGION
|
All students enrolled in St. Catherine’s School participate fully in the religion program and liturgical celebrations.
Religion books from Silver Burdett are used in the religion program for Grades K-6 and books from Sadlier are used for Grades 7 and 8. Diocesan guidelines encourage supplementary emphasis on Prayer, Catholic Doctrine, Tradition and Community Service.
School-wide liturgies are celebrated with joy. Any opportunity to gather for prayer and Eucharist is a celebration of life and freedom. Liturgical celebrations are included in calendar available to all families, and we encourage your participation whenever possible.
During Advent and Lent, Reconciliation will be scheduled during the school day for students in Grades 2-8. The sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated weekly in the parish on Saturdays so that family celebrations of the sacrament are possible.
Sacramental Preparation is conducted through St. Catherine’s Christian Formation Office or respective parishes. Second grade has their First Reconciliation in January, followed by First Holy Communion in the spring. Eighth grade begins preparation for Confirmation in the spring and receives this sacrament the following school year.
