MATHEMATICS |
The Saxon Math program is offered to all students in Grades K through 8. The Saxon Math curriculum follows the Standards of Math compiled by the NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and is consistent with Diocesan Guidelines.
Beginning in Grade 6, eligible students are offered placement in the pre-Algebra program and in the Algebra I program for Grade 8.
The Math series provides practice in computation, concept and application. Estimation and mental Math are used to see relationship between the obvious and the abstract at all grade levels.
Manipulatives consistently supplement the program in the primary and Intermediate grades. In the middle school, mathematical tools (calculators, protractors, compasses) are utilized.
At the teacher’s discretion, cooperative groupings, Math games and technologies are used to promote learning.
