I think everyone has been uplifted by the ten drawings and paintings of St. Catherine of Siena on display in our gathering space. They are all by local high school students. The winner of first prize was CRISTIAN VITALE of McKean High School. His painting is the tall almost life-size painting in the middle; our panel was impressed by "the sheer scale and skill with which it was rendered."


First Place	Cristian Vitale, Grade 11, Thomas McKean HS

Second prize, for the painting to the immediate upper right, went to Dominic Skrajewski of Salesianum. "...The contrast of light and dark indicating Catherine’s contemplative spirit immersed in divine mystery…."

Third prize went to Sarah Gantt of Dickinson, whose painting is to the upper left. We thought she "captured Catherine’s contemplative life with the subtle range of grays around the image of flowing water."

Beyond the impressive art work, we are inspired by these teenagers’ ability to sense the inner life of a saint. Several of these paintings will have a permanent place in our parish.
